The Ring Movie Good Luck Legend

I was told this by a friend at work a couple of days ago. I decided to put this on my blog because I always like a good old urban legend or something paranormal. Who knows this might bring something good into your life or it is just an urban legend. Let me know if you tried it and something good did happen in your life. Give me your comments below if it worked or didn’t and if you know any other good urban legends.

Here is what my friend told me and others in which he stated that because of this urban legend he was able to have his wish and desires happen within one week. On the 7th day, he met the girl of his dreams and also made a business deal that netted him a large profit. This happened seven days after he did the steps of which I will detail below.

How many people hear remember the movie The Ring? If you don’t remember the movie you can read about it on here. Well the premise of The Ring is that someone views a videotape and a bizarre video plays and you will die in seven days after viewing it. The movie is a pretty basic premise that was a hit during the Japanese horror remake era of filmmaking. Yes The Ring is a remake of a Japanese horror film which you can read about here.

Here is the urban legend: both the Japanese version of The Ring and the American version’s videos that play are infused with some mystic power that if you follow the following steps you will be blessed with positive energy and on the 7th day you will have all or your desires and wishes come true. So I guess instead of dying in seven days watching both videos will cause you to have a great day. I tried it yesterday so I have a few more days to find out if it works but give it a shot and let me know what happens with you. Here are the steps:

1.       This must be done after 9:30pm and before 11pm.

2.       All lights must be turned off in the room you are in and try to make the room as dark as possible besides the mechanism you are using to play the videos.

3.       You must be alone in the room with no distractions.

4.       You need to turn your speakers up pretty loud.

5.       Watch the American The Ring video below (first video).

6.       After the video has completed turn completely around and stare at a dark place for 30 seconds.

7.       Turn back around and watch the Japanese version of The Ring video below (second video).

8.       After the video has completed turn completely around and stare at a dark place for 60 seconds.

9.       Turn off your computer or TV that you are watching the videos and sit in the dark for 90 seconds.

10.   After the 90 seconds you may continue on with your night as usual. When you go to sleep you should have a normal dream but in the dream an image of two red rose and three sunflowers will stick out in your mind which will indicate that the mystic energy from the videos is in you and that you will not have all your wishes and desires happen seven days later.

It is a Monday Type of Day

Well it is Monday. A day that is usually associated with a bad day. If you are having a bad day someone will come up to you and ask are you having a bad case of the Mondays. There is a song called “Blue Monday”. What makes this day a bad day? Is it the fact that most people have to return to work after having time off during the weekend? That sounds like a good reason to me. I am having one of those “Mondays” today. First I had to wake up at 3:30am this morning to get ready to drive to Las Vegas to go to work. It is the start of the week so I won’t see my family again until Friday. Then to top that off my car would not start. I hope it isn’t anything expensive that is wrong with it but knowing my luck it will be. I am a little down today but not as crazy as some people can get.

To celebrate Monday and my theory that it is usually bad because of people having to return to work, take a look at a couple of videos where even though you are having a bad day they look like they are having a worse day. Some of these videos are old but still funny:

Hope you enjoyed the videos and it brought a little smile to your face on this Monday. Be happy you aren’t that stressed out (maybe you are though) and always keep an eye out to the person next to you that you work with. Especially on a Monday.

As a bonus video even if they are crazy it would be pretty funny to work with this type of guy:

Hotel Resort Fees

Let’s say you went to stay at a Vegas hotel for the week. You found a cheap deal online and booked your hotel thinking you are not going to break your bank with a hotel. You have a nice stay in Las Vegas and you go and check out. The person at the front desk says, “Thank you for staying with us, here is your charges for the resort fee that is charged per night for services.”

The person looks down at the charges and there is about $60 worth of extra charges added on to what you already paid for the hotel. Has this happened to anyone? Well if you stayed in Las Vegas then I am sure it has. I have always known about the extra fees they tack on at the end. Especially since I have been traveling a lot and sometimes stay in a hotel in Vegas during the week when needed. However, even though the front desk tells you upfront about the charges people are still outraged about the fees. Especially when the fee is about the same price you paid per night for the room.

On the other hand I can see why people get mad because it does add up and the “services” they say they charge you for a lot of times are not even used. Let’s take a look at a recent stay I had and what they charged me for in the resort fee.

  • Shuttle service to the strip (I have my own car so this is never needed)
  • Use of the swimming pool (I won’t be using this and besides it is not even opened)
  • Use of the hotel gym (I won’t be using this and besides I have a gym membership in Las Vegas)
  • Use of their phones (I believe most people have cell phones so this isn’t something I would use)
  • Use of the internet (Here is something I use. They give the price as $5.99 but is already charged in your resort fee)

Of the five items listed above I would only use internet. I can see why people get mad when they are being charged for services they are not using. Just the fact when you check out after having a nice stay and see all these charges that add up can just get people upset and depressed. My thought is why doesn’t the hotel just give you an option of what services you want and then pay for those instead of a lump sum? If the person doesn’t want the gym but wants the pool they charge them a price for use of the pool and give them a card key for it or someone at the pool checking if they paid for the service. It makes sense and at the same time doesn’t make the customer upset. Then again these hotels are used for people who are on vacation and not like me and used to stay during the work week if I need to. So from a business standpoint it gets the hotel some extra profit.

I don’t know but I just feel if they want to charge for the use of something they should charge for the services the customer is actually going to use. What’s next, charging to hear the couple next door have sex because their walls are too thin? Yes I had to listen to that this past week while I was eating dinner in the room. Anyway moving on from that, what is everyone’s thought on hotel’s charging resort fees? Do you think they should just charge for services that you use or am I way off base and what they do now is good? Let me know and comment. I would like to hear from you.

On a side note this Sunday is the Super Bowl. Since the Patriots destroyed the Broncos in the playoffs, I will have to go for the Giants. Sorry.

I’m Coming Home

“I’m coming home, I’m coming home. Tell the World I am coming home…”  Diddy-Dirty Money

As with the first lines in the song I am coming home. My wife and I recently established a home in Goldfield, NV. Even though my job is still in Las Vegas and I spend Monday through Friday either in Las Vegas or on the road, Goldfield is now my official home (again). Many people ask me why I would want to move back to Goldfield. There are a few reasons which I will outline:

  1. This is the town where I grew up. I am familiar with it and the culture. Even though things have changed since when I left back in 2001 it still has the same qualities that I loved about it.
  2. My wife and kid love the area. They are closer to a support system. This is good because I travel a lot for my job. We all can be closer to family and friends.
  3. The school would be way better for my son then a Vegas school where he would just be another face in the crowd.
  4. Along those lines, the crime and overall state of the town of Goldfield it way safer then Las Vegas.
  5. I have a lot of plans for the town as I have always been drawn to it.

To go along with point five I do have some major plans for the Goldfield/Tonopah area. I look back to the days when I was growing up in Goldfield and remember how much life it had.

I remember during Treasure Days (called Goldfield Days now or the Land Auction) there were vendors everywhere from all walks of life. Major politicians would be in the parade even if it wasn’t an election year. I remember so many games and fun stuff to do for kids and adults alike. Does anyone remember that?

I remember in the evening time after school kids, adults and all would meet at the gym and have a basketball game. I remember the gym would get so packed that people were waiting on the benches to come in to play. That is how full it was. Does anyone remember that?

I remember a lot of events would come to Goldfield. There would be magic shows, plays and a lot of community picnics. I remember there was a Memorial Day picnic at the park. I remember every year bikers would come to a park for an evening every year. I remember summer programs for kids. Does anyone remember that?

I remember the school would hold book fairs. There would be theater companies coming to the school to get the kids to do a play. I remember huge turnouts to the annual Halloween carnival. I remember when the school cafeteria was packed for school lunches. I remember a lot of dedication and many games to the basketball program.  I remember the track meet that happened every year was something to train for a month or two. Does anyone remember that?

These are some of the changes that have happened since I left Goldfield. There are more but these come to mind. I am sure there was even more stuff before I was even born. Why did all these changes happen? The obvious answer there is not as much people as there was when I was living there, money and the economy is very low, and a different way of life for kids where pickup games are not as important as it used to be.

This is where point five comes along. I plan to help revitalize the community. This just does not include Goldfield but all of Esmeralda county and the Tonopah area. I have some ideas, plans and some connections to help do this. I know I can’t do it alone and will need the communities help also. However, soon people will start seeing these plans come to pass. It will probably take a couple of months to get started but if time allows and it pans out things will start looking up.

What does everyone think? What changes would you like to see in Goldfield or do you not want anything to change? What memories do you have of the past that you would like to see come back? Share your memories and your thoughts. Register and comment below because I want to hear what people think and if there is even an interest of changes.

I will start writing in this again

Yes I have been on here since October. Things have been time consuming  and a lot of changes have been happening in my life. I plan to start writing regularly as I have planned when I started this. I will at least write two or three times a week maybe more. It should be interesting. I will be starting again next week. So please come back Monday for an interesting write up that I am sure you will enjoy and register as a user if you haven’t already.

You want to get into shape, try Insanity

Before I start I just wanted to say sorry I haven’t been writing on this much. I will pick it up with some interesting blogs that I will think you will enjoy. I have been busy with work and getting my DCO package together. I will try to be an officer in the Navy Reserves. Anyway just wanted to let you know about this great workout called Insanity.

Usually I don’t promote something I saw on an infomercial but I have been using the Insanity workout from Beach Body. Let me tell you that is this not for the weak at heart. The only thing I probably saw that was harder was someone at OCS getting beat down all day from the Drill Instructor.

I like the challenge of it and it does get you into shape. Now you probably won’t get extremely ripped from this workout as a lot of it is cardio work but you will definately get in better shape and if you need to lose some pounds. Even the people on the videos who are fitness trainers have a hard time on it. So again it not for everybody but it is a great workout. Just remember if you do this workout you have to eat right also as that is important. It comes with a cool nutrition guide. You can check out more information at Beachbody.com . No I am not pushing a product, I just wanted people to know a cool workout that helps get people in shape. My boss likes P90X from the same company. I haven’t tried that yet but I will sometime in the future. To better explain it check out this video and if you want to challenge yourself pick it up.

It ain’t about how hard ya hit…

As the great Rocky Balboa said in his last movie, “But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”

Such a true statement especially in times where people are getting beat down, whether people are losing their jobs, houses, relationships or just trying to live paycheck by paycheck. The state of affairs out there is tough and I don’t see it changing in the near future.

However, it is up to you to decide whether to stand up and keep moving forward. You are the only person that can keep yourself going forward and rise from being beat down. I am not saying you need to do it alone and not have support from friends and family but to truly rise from being beat down, one would need to accomplish it on their own without relying on someone to take care of them.

To quote J.F.K (Yes I am quoting Rocky and J.F.K in the same blog), “And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Again the idea of the individual trying to help a situation is there. Many problems in this country would be solved if people tried to help themselves and not expect handouts. If you have a dream or goal in life do everything you can to make that dream to come true. You will never accomplish anything unless you try. Don’t expect your dream to be handled to you on a silver platter, unless you win the lottery or something, it takes hard work to make things happen.

Since I started this with Rocky lets use this fictional character as a case study. This will have movie spoilers and if you haven’t seen the Rocky movies (and if you haven’t please crawl out of the rock you are under and watch them) then please don’t read any further as I don’t want to ruin these great movies for you. Anyway, Rocky started out as a low-life, uneducated boxer (ok hired thug) who barely made it by until an opportunity was given him to fight the heavyweight champ. Everyone expected him to lose in the first round of the boxing match. He felt he could not win but he just wanted to go the distance at least. Cue the famous Rocky montage. Rocky trained hard. He didn’t sit around eating twinkies all day or his pet turtles (he did drink raw eggs though which I don’t recommend), he worked very hard and went the distance.

The second movie saw Rocky riding the success of the fight which included doing commercials and not wanting to have a rematch against Apollo. Unfortunately, he could not read. This lead to the boxer working at the meat factory and eventually getting laid off from that. Rocky tried to do everything he could do for his family (including to learn to read) but realized he needed to go back to what he was good at and that was boxing. This lead to him being the champ. He accomplished a dream of his and again did it by hard work. He did what he had to do to for himself and his family (including a new born son).

The next two movies dealt with the success of Rocky and the struggles he dealt with while having money. Even when you are on top you still get dealt with the blows of life. In one situation Rocky is getting handed opponents that were not championship calibur and it got to Rocky’s head. He took less pride in his training and was not working as hard. Finally, a tough opponent challenged Rocky and beat him handily (Of course it was Mr. T). To regain his championship, Rocky would have to train hard again like he used to and find the eye of the tiger (I bet you are singing that catchy tune). He regained his championship because of working hard.

Are you seeing a trend here or do I have to continue any further? The point here is that you can’t expect everything to be handed to you. If you want something badly that you can’t get right now whether it being a job, some new item, a girlfriend, a robot for your drunk brother in-law on his birthday (see Rocky IV) or whatever it may be you have to work hard at it. Life will always try to knock you down and it probably won’t get easier anytime soon. However, it is up to you to pick yourself up and decide to keep moving forward. If the people of this country would just pick themselves up and work hard at attaining their goals then this country would be better as a whole. People need to stop blaming things on others and expect other people to do everything and just work hard themselves. I don’t promise it will easy or that you won’t ever get knocked down by life again, but I do promise you will be a better person in the end. So pick yourself up right now and accomplish your goals and dreams and feel good.
